Our Story

BJ Con-Sew has grown substantially through the years, but the main focus of providing customers with quality products in a timely manner has never changed.

Owners Jerry and Barbara Trotter Our company was founded in 1992 by Barbara and Jerry Trotter in Asheboro, North Carolina. They worked hand in hand, along with one other sewer, to manufacture mattress covers for their first customer. Barbara, president, was the cloth cutter, and Jerry, vice president, helped with the financial side of operations. Through the years, the husband and wife team watched their business grow and prosper. Barbara and Jerry found themselves cutting and sewing more products for more customers, and eventually, needed to move the business from the original 600 square foot facility to a 6,000 square foot facility across town. The Trotters also recruited their only son, Todd, to join the company. Today, he is chief operating officer, and has been with the business for over 20 years.

50,000 SQ/FT Facility BJ Con-Sew's current location is a 50,000 square foot facility in Asheboro's Industrial Park, not too far from the small original site. The business is in close proximity to Interstate 73 and many of central North Carolina’s major cities and airports - Greensboro, Charlotte, and Raleigh/Durham.

Woman Owned Company Barbara Trotter is still president of the woman-owned company, and Jerry Trotter remains vice president, but they are now enjoying some of their retirement years, leaving business affairs in the hands of Todd, and their daughter-in-law, Lori. Lori helps with office administration and various other duties within the company, and their three daughters, Shea, Emma and Annabeth, can also be seen around the facility helping out in various ways. Shea, the Trotter's oldest daughter, joined the company full time in 2015, and she helps with CAD & patterns for the cutting room, along with other duties.

Although BJ Con-Sew has grown through the years, our management team and staff have made every effort to retain the small family business atmosphere, treating employees and customers as family, too.
